Every traveler must be well acquainted with the realities of the environment they’re traversing before they can skillfully navigate it. If we are to successfully venture through the 7 skills, reclaim our hearts and enter into the “better life” Jesus described, we must orient ourselves with the reality of this wild world into which we were born.

Welcome to Skill 1! Our souls were created to be loved by caring parents. The need to be lovingly fathered and tenderly nurtured by a mother cannot be underestimated. So primal are the longings for "Mom" and "Dad" that even the best earthly parent(s) can’t fully satiate them. Yes, the only one who can fill our deep father-and-mother-need is God—our True Parent—the inventor of them.

Welcome to Skill 2! Jesus was not afraid to engage in hard conversations. He did not fear saying the truth, even if it troubled others. Jesus is courageous and he desires you to be just as brave as he—intentionally engaging in difficult conversations—speaking truth to lies—all with masterfully appropriate timing. In this session, we'll learn to uncover  life-strategies that limit our god-given gifts of enthusiasm, confidence and courage. Let's get started!

Welcome to Skill 3! As we've discussed, like Jesus, you were born with enemies—spiritual ones. You'll need copious amounts of spiritual smarts not to enter into their one-sided intellectual contracts and agreements.  In this session, you'll learn how to detect and break those false agreements of the past and enter into new faith-filled agreements with God and his Scripture!

Welcome to Skill 4! Every person experiences betrayal at least once in their lifetime. Jesus had Judas. The Father had Lucifer. This session will prepare you to navigate betrayal, heal from it and grow more mature and loving through it.

Welcome to Skill 5 & 6! It’s appropriate to run from your abusive “Herod” as a child, just as Jesus and his family did (and like me (Joel) and my family did), but our courageous guide, Jesus, wants us to act as he did when he became a mature adult. He wants us to learn to handle our Herods and every human antagonist that comes our way. In this session we will learn how to handle our human antagonists and rediscover our true and authentic self.

As children, we shape our personalities to protect us from the unavoidable wounds and losses we all experience there. Our personality is the way we predictably think, act, react, process information and perceive our world. When we over identify with it, we can lose touch with who we really are—our authentic self. In this session, we will learn how to distinguish between the personalities we create and our true self. You're going to love this one!

Welcome to Skill 7 & Coming Home! It is only the true you that can fully experience the life Jesus promised was better than your dreams. We find our most authentic selves in a growing union with God. It’s a process. If we do not give up, keep putting one courageous foot in front of the other as we walk home through this wild life with Jesus, we will discover who we truly are, ditch the dead masks and personas we have so intricately woven and be reintroduced to our true—fully integrated—selves. And it is this wholehearted—authentic you—that will bravely enter into the better life Jesus prepared just for you. Let's go!
