EP 3: BRAVING THE WILDERNESS

Braving the wilderness is a journey to discovering your true belonging and authentic self.

"Belonging is the innate human desire to be part of something larger than us. Because this yearning it so primal, we often try to acquire it by fitting in and seeking approval, which is not only a hollow substitute of true belonging, but often barriers to it. Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic and perfect selves to the world. Our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self acceptance." - Brene Brown

There was a time in Casey's life where she walked through a wilderness season journeying toward belonging to herself, not someone else or something else. Because it is in the wilderness that we are awakened to bloom into who God always purposed us to be.

EP 1: PROFFESOR PAIN

Let's talk about PAIN! We could feel you tense-up as your eyes scanned the word - pain. Ouch, just reading the word hurts - let alone - when you actually have to experience it. We are with you!

"Pain is like a traveling professor. He knocks at the door of your life. Your job is to invite him in, welcome him in, and sit with him. And do not let him leave until he has taught you everything you need to learn." - Glennon Doyle

Why is life so painful? Think about it. From the very first moment we enter the world, it is a messy, painful endeavor. But there is something on the inside of us that is already prepared for what is to come. At some point in life, we all experience pain. And when we do, we can choose to lean into it and discover our strength or avoid it with an "easy button." Stop running, numbing and avoiding Professor Pain. Let her inside and discover the strength, courage and resiliency that has always resided within.

In this episode, Dr. Joel + Casey talk about:

- Casey's experience with pain and the moment that shifted her perspective of pain.

- How you can learn to welcome Professor Pain into your home.

- What are Easy Buttons and how to avoid them.
